My children have been going to Camp Hillcroft since they were in 1st grade. This year they will be returning as 6th and 8th graders, and are JUST as excited as they were the first time they went. As a parent, I couldn’t be any happier. My kids have very different personalities (one is shy, one is very outgoing) and they both come home each day happy, engaged and exhausted:) From swimming and crafts, to farming and zip lining, Hillcroft has it all! Most importantly, it is extremely well run, and I have the utmost confidence in their safety and well-being while there.
As the rain, snow and freezing rain head our way in Dutchess County, Greg and I are sitting in our camp office planning and working on summer 2019!! On cold dreary days I find myself thinking about the summer and the best day of my year!!! Better than my birthday..better than Christmas and yes better than my wedding anniversary!!!!!
It's the most anticipated day at Camp Hillcroft...the day that all camp directors dream of...the day that all summer camps work towards all year round! My favorite part of camp and my favorite day of the year is....... the first day. The energy that is flowing through the camp, even before the campers arrive, is crazy. Counselors are so excited to meet their campers and really get the ball rolling.
As those first cars pull up, there is an intense mix of emotions; excitement, anxiousness, happiness, and even a slight feeling of fear. But once all those kids run out of their cars carrying their back packs, and the biggest smiles you could ever imagine, the atmosphere drastically changes and it’s one of the best feelings in the world! You suddenly know that you are in for the best summer of your life, and can’t wait to see what’s next in store! Boy do we miss camp :(
