Great Day Camp in Hudson Valley
My daughter has gone to Camp Hillcroft for the past two summers, and we anticipate many more. The camp is extremely well-organized with a wide variety of activities, including a strong swimming program. She is outdoors every day and comes home tired but happy. She does see friends from school at camp, but also has many new "camp friends" that we look forward to seeing each year. I am glad that she has an opportunity to develop interests and confidence in a supportive, friendly environment in the summer.
Feeling bored now that your school routine is in full swing? Missing the nonstop adventure of a day at Hillcroft? Well look no further, because we have created a small list of some indoor games you can enjoy at home this year!
“G-H-O-S-T” -The first player says a letter. The next person adds a letter, attempting to spell a word. For example, the beginning of a round might sound like this: "E." "N." "G." "A." The one saying the final letter of a word more then 3 letters long loses. Every time a person loses they earn a letter from GHOST (like in the game HORSE) The first person to lose 5 times and therefore spell GHOST is out. Continue play until there is a winner.
“Would You Rather?” – designed to help players learn about each other, this game is set up in a circle. Each player takes a turn asking a “would you rather…. Or ….?” Question to the group. For example, “Would you rather eat only tomatoes for the rest of your life, or never eat a tomato again?” Everyone will have to pick one choice, and then continue around the circle asking questions.
“I’m Going to a Picnic” (best played with a large group) – Again, players will begin in a circle. The first player says “I’m going to a picnic and I’m going to bring…” and selects a food with the starting letter “A” to bring. The next person will repeat what the first player said, then add a food with the starting letter “B”. This will continue in alphabetical order around the circle, creating a long list of foods that must be memorized. ( Example: “I’m going to a picnic and I’m going to bring an apple, a banana, a crossaint, a devil’s food cake….etc”)
Try these games on a rainy day with some friends, or in class one day with your teacher! They’ll make any day fun just like here at Hillcroft!
