A Unique Day Camp Community with Residential Facilities for Staff from the US and other Countries.

Camp Hillcroft, est. 1950, offers 400 boys and girls, ages 4-14, a friendly, fun-filled community experience in a day format with residential facilities for staff. Located east of Poughkeepsie, two hours north of New York City. Hillcroft's studios, workshops, playing fields, waterfront, outdoor adventure facilities, and farm provide an exceptional array of age appropriate program experiences for the beginner and accomplished. Long regarded as a caring community with an honest respect for childrens concerns and feelings, Hillcroft continues to be a very special place for children and adults.

150 teachers, coaches, graduate and college students make up Camp Hillcroft's staff. We employ "instructors" who teach specific programs and "counselors" who help the children in their group to negotiate their day in camp. A good portion of staff return each season. It is one of the few day camps in the US that has a residential staff of 60+ people living at the camp which encourages interest from across the United States, and other countries. All enjoy the children and the busy five day format. All are energized by ending at 5:30pm and enjoying weekends off to explore the Northeast.

Jake T, US, 08

As summer ends I leave Hillcroft with a sense of accomplishment that has no price.  To see just one child learn and grow means you have done your job.  To see them all changed means you have had an impact.  At Hillcroft no one changes just one child.

Milly S. UK ‘06 & ‘07

My Hillcroft summers were amazing and honestly the best summers of my life.  I have met so many great people and tried so many new things - it really doesn’t compare to anything else.

Ellen F. US ‘08

Spending my days with the Hillcroft family has exceeded my highest expectations. Watching the campers explore their talents and broaden their horizons, still while making friends and having fun, has been more rewarding than I imagined. As a camper turned counselor, I still see the magic of Hillcroft, and I find that fact remarkable.
